Dino's Mens BBall Roster Announced

An update came out this week on Wayne Thomas' site with an updated roster for the 2011/12 Dino's Mens Basketball Team. I subsequently corresponded with Wayne to get the scoop on the folks not returning, too.

On the roster, at guard (R=returning, N=New):
Andrew McGuinness (R)
Jarred Ogunbemi-Jackson (R)
Keenan Milburn (R)
Nebojsa Kuljic (R)
Josh Owen-Thomas (N)
Matteo Belusci (N)

On the roster at forward:
Dustin Reading (R)
Tyler Fiddler (R)
Patrick Walker (R)
Matt Letkmann (R)
Josh Wolfram (R)
Daan Wiersum (N)
Boris Bakovic (N)
Roderick Iyekekpolar (N)

Not retuning from last year, and why:
Andy Rochon: His shoulder injuries never got much better. Taking a Masters of Coaching in West Virginia.
Jordan Flagel: Decided the effort wasn't worth it given the tiny bit of court time he got last year. I loved his energy and speed on the court.
Trevor Debolt: See Jordan. I think this is a great loss for the team.
Phil Labongo: Went back to Winnipeg for family reasons. Tough decision for him, I think, but the right one.
Daryus Sconers: Not a "returnee"; good recruiting resulted in one import too many. Went back to Phoenix.
Brad Clark: Taking the year off from basketball.
Youri Annisovets: Had trouble fitting in with the team.
Greg Farineau: Not sure. Came to the team from SAIT as a 3rd year

Just to keep you posted on the ongoings in the dutch FEB; Former Dino standouts Ross and Henry Bekkering are teaming up for the "maggix playing for kidsrights" this year (and yes, that's the name of the club, fomrerly known as the Matrixx Magixx). They will play their first regular season game this weekend. It's not certain yet if Henry will dress asa he's been out with an undefined injury for the last 2 weeks of preparation. Ross is a starter for the Maggixx, who have an impressive frontcourt and should be able to compete for a play-off spot and should finish in the top 5 even. Henry might come off the bench, or maybe even start, depending on how big coach Schuurs wants to play (Henry would normally play the 3 in Holland, but he might get some minutes on the 4 or maybe even the 2 spot, depending on the match-ups).

The Maggixx have had a rather impressive preparation to the season. With a good win against a good Antwerp Giants team (from Belgium)to finish the preseason.

Maggixx play an uptempo game that should go down well with the flashy bro's from Canada. Will keep y'all updated.
